Prediction - Global Warfare by 2010

World War II Map 1939 - 1945
Dark Green - Allies before Pearl Harbor
Light Green - Allies after Pearl Harbor
Orange - Axis Powers

I am predicting Global Warfare, including all nations of the world, by 2010

Reasons for assuming a coming Global Conflict:
- Energy and resouce shortages
a majority of the world's oil resides in the war ravaged Middle East
- Imbalance of power
the United States is the sole super power
- Ideological differences
increasing tension between religious and political views
- Overpopulation
the world's population is 6.5 billion (in contrast to 2.5 billion in 1950)

Today we look behind us and see the greatest period of growth in the western world, but in front of us we see threats worldwide to global stability. In this article Newt Gingrich, former Speaker of the House, labels the current situation as World War III. I'd have to agree with him.
"...wars in Afghanistan, Iraq, this week's bomb attacks in India, North Korean nuclear threats, terrorist arrests and investigations in Florida, Canada and Britain, and violence in Israel and Lebanon [are] evidence of World War III."
While we certainly aren't in the thick of the war at this moment, I'd say we are near the beginning of what could very well become a large scale global conflict.

The image above shows you the nations involved in the last global conflict, World War II, which was over 60 years ago. As you can see, not all of these countries were involved in fighting, but the effects of global conflict are just that, global.

As americans we have been lucky. For the last two generations we have suffered no social hardship. Unfortunately, I am of the belief that this is going to be the reason that the coming crisis will be a shock and most likely unbelievable for most americans.

War is not something that we as humans have out grown. In fact, it is one of the more evident characteristics of our species. We have been waring with each other since the beginning of recorded history and it would be ignorant to think that it won't continue.

While this is certainly not something to excited about, or look forward to, it is better to be informed than ignorant. We are inhabitants of a society, a society that is reliant on a global infrastructure. This infrastructure is at risk and that is something that should interest everyone.

I guess if you are into war and stuff...

no...seriously though. I think we're about to see the real deal. Just keep your eyes open. You never know when you'll be able to make a difference for yourself, or for others.
